Registration of trademarks in the Russian Federation

Why

Why

Tip. Trademarks are designations that are used to personalize goods and services. With the help of trademarks, customers can distinguish the source of origin of a product. Manufacturers strive to increase the visibility of their symbols through investment in product quality and communication with customers.
In the Russian Federation, legal protection provided for trademarks applies only to registered designations. In the absence of protection, there may be situations in which third parties will begin to use identical or confusingly similar designations to individualize similar or similar goods and/or services. As a result, customers may be misled, and it will be more difficult for the person who used the designation first to stop the actions of such entities.
For whom

For whom

Registration of the trademark is relevant for any person introducing a new product and/or service to the Russian market or rebranding products that are already being sold.
1478 Note. According to article 1478 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, the owner of the exclusive right to the trademark can be a legal entity or an individual entrepreneur.
