International registration of trademarks

Why

Why

As a general rule, trademarks are protected in the country in which they are registered. For example, registering a trademark in the Russian Federation does not give protection in the United States, and it is necessary to go through the registration procedure with the United States Patent and Trademark Office separately.

Compliance with several national procedures at once is a difficult task. However, there is a convenient way to register signs in different jurisdictions, namely the Madrid system for filing applications, paying fees and other actions.
Tip.  It is worth noting the possibility of registering for the European Union Trade Mark (EUTM). Article 1 of Regulation 2017/1001 (EU) establishes that     said trademark has a unitary character and has the same effect throughout the European Union.
